Photo description:

“Another documentary picture about Val d’Orcia and its Lines, Lanes, Shapes, Colours, Changing dyes, that depict this area and due to the work of humans (harvesting, seeding, using tractors and so on). Last but not least due to the work of Mother Nature that all change and create at same time. In the italian language lives a word to describe all these features: Geoponia. It was August 2008 when I took this picture along Cassia road at south of San Quirico d’Orcia….I could add this is another example of hard work under the sun. I wanted to unbalance the compo so to give more slant on the far right to enhace all horizontal lines , lanes and colours living in the frame. Eyes must run fast and faster so to scan and explore the heart of this land (a mixture of shapes and colours) and to find the real author of those scratches: The Man and his “motor-cow”(the tractor at far right). What does remain after the man and his tractor have gone away out of the frame…..? Soil with its magical features….The crop of Earth with its colours and lines that will be a safe box for future: new wheat, corn or sunflowers….Yes a “poor compo”...Minimalist? Well minimalism is the triumph of each singolarity so getting its own Dignity. A lot of words….Hope you like it.
PENTAX K-1000 and zoom TAMRON 70-210 SP on 210mm. Manual exposure. Kodak slidechrome Elite 100 ISO scanned on Epson. Skylight filter. Tripod. Almost a back light because sun was high and in front left of me. Not a perfect condition but in these cases there are “No Ifs and/or Buts”….Push the button!”
