Photo description:

I took this picture in 2008. It is one of my first attempts using a digital camera for taking action captures. Till that time I had used traditional cameras only. From my side I knew very well that race track and those kind of subjects. I took thousands of photos of those subjects in the years before. PENTAX K 20D and PENTAX 55-300 lens on 135mm. Manual exposure;100 ISO; 1/800s; F 5,6; center weighted average exposure; monopod. Sometimes I set camera on AF but in most cases I have always prefered manual focusing..in the past like in the present. That day I was helping a prof. photographer and I got a special exclusive permission “to cover” a part of the track. I took all photos standing behind guard-rail at a few meters from bikers! I took many other pics at starting grid, boxes and sitting on a tower I had the chance to have a high POV...almost an “eyes bird’s view” onto a few curves.
