Very delicate and sensitive Robert..i really appreciate your sensitive way of exposing the reality..somehow we all share our unique way of seeing the world, first with our senses, and then learning how to translate them with the current tecnology avaiable...what it touch´s me here is the feeling,in portuguese we call it "sentimentos"that goes deeper than the emotion..for me ,a Photography to be "observed" from within...Deep Peace in this New Year that is coming..;-)
P.S.
and if you were exploring the situation..you would never got this feeling from her eyes or "soul"..;-)..keep the Good Work,Robert!

Well... sadness, war, disasters... agree or not is what makes the most famouse photos around the world.
Sadness shouldn't be hidden, as well as hapiness neither.
All I can say is that this is one of those portraits that you can´t take your eyes out of it.

Well Robert, when we photograph a sadness emotion some people can judge us we are taking advantage from one situation to make a good 'shot' but, if you photograph someone smiling maybe you are not accused of do it. But, for you (and me) are only catch a feeling that could be sad, happy, serenity, hungry, etc. And what's one of the most rewarding situation for a photographer (at least for me) ? Catch not only the image but the people feelings, and you do it in this photo. Keep doing because, I think, it's one of photographer mission when make portraits.

I see, you still have doubts about taking this picture. And I understand you very well and I see you are a nice man. And an honest man too.
It is useless to state that this portrait is a great one - you already know that your work is very good. Your question is about ethics. For me you have done it right. Others may think otherwise.
