About Domingos Monteiro
Domingos Monteiro nasceu em 1956 na cidade do Porto, mas foi em Angola que passou a sua infância e juventude. Foi nesta África, aos 13 anos, que usou a sua primeira máquina fotográfica, sobretudo em retratos sociais, de família mas já na captura que é a fotografia de natureza.
Regressado a Portugal em 75 foi realizador na RTP, sobretudo na área documental, sendo autor de documentários exibidos em Portugal, Espanha, Itália, República Checa, Alemanha, França, Finlândia, Inglaterra, EUA e Canadá. Alguns dos seus documentários obtiveram prémios em festivais internacionais, em Portugal, Alemanha e EUA e outros encontram-se no espólio do Museu do Homem, em Paris.

É produtor e editor independente há mais de 20 anos, permanecendo ligado à área dos audiovisuais.
Nos anos mais recentes tem dado curso a uma verdadeira paixão – a fotografia como expressão artística e retrato de época - sobretudo nos registos de rua e paisagem, onde se sente inspirado por nomes como Ansel Adams, Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa ou Doisneau.

Domingos Monteiro was born in the northern Portuguese town
of Porto, though he spent his childhood and youth in Angola. He was 13 years old when he first used his camera to take pictures of angolan social and family scenes,together with landscapes.
In December 1975 he returned to Portugal and worked as a film director at RTP, the first Portuguese public television company. His documentaries have been broadcast in Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Finland, England, USA, and Canada, and some have received international awards in Portugal, Germany, and the USA. Others are in the Museé de L´Homme in Paris.
Domingos has been an independent producer and Editor for more than 20 years, and he is still active in the audio-visual business.
He has recently dedicated himself to his true passion -
"photography as an expression of art and bygone times". He specialises in Street and Fine Art Photography, taking his
inspiration from artists such as Ansel-Adams, Carier-Bresson, Robert Capa and Doisneau. He has several exhibitions in Portugal, France and Germany, with others in preparation. He also is represented in many Portuguese art galleries.
